Editor’s Note: We are pleased to welcome Tina Toedt to The Sublime Soiree blog today! Not only is Tina a wonderful friend, but she also is an author with great wisdom on retirement. Be sure to look for Tina’s upcoming book, The Art of Retirement: Opening the Next Door, available where books are sold in October 2025.
A few short years ago, my husband and I were asked to house a female Christian counseling intern at our home in North Canton.

We prayed about the opportunity and decided to interview her via Zoom.
To our heart’s delight, after speaking with her, we knew immediately that while we were providing housing and friendship to her, we were the ones that were going to be blessed!
This proved to be very true through the duration of her tenure at our home, and our bond remains strong to this day.

She added so much joy, humor, and companionship to our days. We enjoyed breaking bread together at the end of each day, went on walks, played card games, discussed our daily experiences, challenges, and future hopes and dreams.
She is mature in her faith, and therefore wise beyond her years. It’s been two years since she lived with us and we continue to be blessed by her countenance, knowing that she is a very special gift from the Lord.
We praise God for her time with us, her friendship, and continue to pray for her daily. What a blessing!
